Introducing the Level 3 Geospatial Apprenticeship in the South East

We are working to introduce the Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician Apprenticeship in the South East of England, with a planned launch in early 2026. Currently, there are very few providers offering this programme in the region, and we believe there’s a real opportunity to change that. As demand for geospatial skills continues to grow across sectors like construction, environmental management, and infrastructure, this apprenticeship can help bridge a vital skills gap and open up rewarding careers for new talent entering the industry.

The apprenticeship is a two-year, government-recognised programme, funded either through the apprenticeship levy or, for apprentices under 21, fully government-funded making it a cost-effective and impactful way for businesses to invest in their workforce. The delivery model includes three two-week training blocks per year, held at venues in the South East, along with continuous workplace-based assessment. The curriculum has been developed in collaboration with industry experts, ensuring it’s relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with the real-world needs of geospatial professionals.

Delivering this apprenticeship is a complex undertaking, and we’ve put the right team, partners, and resources in place to ensure it’s a success. But to move forward, we need at least 15 committed apprentices to begin the first cohort. That’s why we’re reaching out now to engage with local businesses, employers, and stakeholders who recognise the value of this initiative and want to be part of shaping its delivery.

If your organisation could benefit from fresh geospatial talent, or if you’re passionate about helping to shape the future of skills in the sector, we’d love to hear from you. This is your opportunity to help launch a programme that will not only develop future professionals but also strengthen the geospatial industry in the South East for years to come.
