Course Information
This course is ONLY available to learners who are employed by organisations in the Republic of Ireland and also reside in the Republic of Ireland, due to how this is funded.
This programme is aimed at employed professionals within construction, engineering, architecture or design who wish to upskill in digital drawing production in the Republic of Ireland.
This 3-day AutoCAD Essentials course is designed for new AutoCAD® / AutoCAD LT® software users who require comprehensive training.
The course incorporates the features, commands, and techniques for creating, editing, and printing drawings with AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT.
Course Content
- Understanding the AutoCAD workspace and user interface.
- Use basic drawing tools to create simple line drawings.
- Learn how to get around your drawings using the view tools.
- Discover how to use the edit commands to help you draw more productively.
- Organise your drawing using AutoCAD layers.
- Become skilled at using more advanced drawing tools.
- Realise the power of reused symbols known as blocks.
- Discover how to add annotations to your AutoCAD drawings.
- Prepare a drawing to print using layout mode.
- Learn how to get information back out of your drawing such as distances and areas.

Class Times:
9.00am – 12.00pm & 1.00pm – 4.00pm
What You Need To Know
In order to fully benefit from this course you will;
- Need to have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and be PC literate.
- You don’t need any AutoCAD or Revit experience – this is designed for new users of this software.
Outcomes
By the end of these course(s) you will have gained a good, basic understanding of the tools required to complete 2D drawings in AutoCAD and 3D drawings. You will also have;
- A portfolio of work
- Resources and materials that you can refer back to, and
- Basic online support for 30 days following the completion of the course
What’s included (Online via Microsoft Teams)
We are able to provide you with a Software licence to undertake this course, the course materials and resources. You would be taught by one of our approved AutoDesk Approved Tutors, but as this course is delivered remotely you would need to provide the following;
- A suitable PC or laptop that is capable of running AutoCAD 2023.
- A strong internet connection
- A web cam
Our courses are delivered via our virtual learning environment, and this means;
- Our AutoDesk approved tutors are on the call throughout the entire training day (9am-4pm)
- Our tutors will cover a topic, give you specific training with practical tuition, and then set tasks to be completed.
- They will review these tasks with you throughout your training, to ensure you get what you require.
- If further support is needed, then we can provide individual tuition to reinforce learning.
- We can even take over your PC and show you how to do things – just as if someone was over your shoulder in person.
The emphasis is in creating a positive learning experience where all learners achieve their desired outcomes, get the training, support and assistance they need throughout the course.

In advance of the course start date learners will gain access to a free AutoCAD licence from T3 for use whilst on the course.
