Course Information
This course is ONLY available to learners who are employed by organisations in the Republic of Ireland and also reside in the Republic of Ireland, due to how this is funded.
This programme is aimed at employed professionals within construction, engineering, architecture or the built environment who wish to strengthen their understanding of BIM and digital construction processes in the Republic of Ireland.
The aim of the Pearson unit Building Information Modelling (BIM) is to develop learners understanding of the principles, processes, and practical application of Building Information Modelling within the construction and built environment sector.
This unit enables learners to explore how digital information is created, managed, and shared across the project lifecycle, supporting collaboration between designers, contractors, and clients. Learners will gain knowledge of BIM standards, data management processes, and the role of information modelling in improving efficiency, coordination, cost control, and sustainability.
Through applied project work, learners will develop the technical and analytical skills required to interpret BIM documentation, contribute to model-based workflows, and understand the responsibilities associated with information management in construction projects.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will develop both theoretical understanding and applied industry knowledge, including:
- Principles of BIM: Understanding the purpose, benefits and value of BIM in construction
- Digital Workflows: How BIM supports coordination, sequencing and efficient project delivery
- Model Interpretation: Navigating and interpreting 3D digital models
- Collaboration & Information Management: Role, Responsibilities and Structured Data exchange
- Standards & Protocols: Introduction to BIM standards, Common Data Environments (CDE) and project documentation
- Industry Application: Applying BIM processes to real-world project scenarios
