This course is ONLY available to learners who are employed by organisations in the Republic of Ireland and also reside in the Republic of Ireland, due to how this is funded.
The aim of the Pearson BTEC unit in Management of a Construction Project is to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to effectively plan, coordinate, and manage construction projects within the built environment sector.
The course is designed to develop learners’ understanding of the construction project lifecycle, enabling them to apply project management principles to real-world scenarios involving site management techniques, procurement methods, cost management techniques, programme of activity, GANT charts and monitoring methods.
Course Description
This programme is aimed at employed professionals within construction, engineering and the built environment who wish to strengthen their project management capability living in the Republic of Ireland.
This six-week, fully online programme is delivered through live, tutor-led and interactive sessions and is designed to upskill construction professionals currently in employment in the principles of construction project management.
Delivered one day per week, the course introduces the key stages involved in planning, coordinating and delivering construction projects, including project scheduling, resource management, budgeting, quality assurance and health & safety compliance. As part of the Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) Skills Suite at Mount Lucas, this programme strengthens management capability to support improved decision-making, communication and project outcomes across the built environment sector.
On successful completion, participants will achieve Pearson BTEC certification in Unit 9: Management of a Construction Project, an industry-recognised award forming part of the Level 5 National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.
Learning Outcomes

- Resource & Budget Management: Managing labour, materials and cost consideration
- Health & Safety & Risk Management: Understanding compliance requirements and risk control measures

- Information & Decision-Making: Using project data to coordinate teams and activities
- Leadership & Communication: Developing effective supervisory and coordination skills
